Interesting fact: July is the beginning of MONSOON SEASON in Arizona. It’s tempting to ignore this item when planning a trip, but let me suggest that you keep it in mind when driving up the mountains and hiking along the rocks. These rains are crazy intense! That white stuff on the ground is hail, which is what we found after driving past a Toyota RAV4 that hydroplaned off the road and did a few somersaults. The good news is that these downpours do not last long- but make a note!

Last time we visited the Grand Canyon, we entered through the South Rim. The South Rim has really stunning views, but it is extremely crowded. This time we entered through the North Rim and experienced fewer crowds, though the views were ever so slightly less spectacular. It was cloudy and misty but still beautiful!
