It is really confusing to figure out where to lodge when visiting national parks (if you’re not camping). We stayed one night in Springdale, which I recommend. All the hotels are nice, but it’s expensive. The town has free shuttles to the park where you pick up other shuttles to get to the trails. One thing to note, Zion is like Disneyland in terms of crowds and lines. SO MANY HUMANS. 
Zion has deep red dramatically tall rocks.
Bryce National Park is not too far from Zion and I personally liked it better for its accessibility and greater degree of peace.
